Our Story: From Samarkand to Paris…
Hi, I’m Nafisa, a mother of two, an entrepreneur, and the founder of Nella.
My journey began in the ancient city of Samarkand, Uzbekistan, where I was born and raised, and continued into the bustling streets of Paris, where I moved as a student.
My working career was implementing aid projects for agencies and private companies in Asia and Europe. I now use that experience to work on my own projects, where the need is greater, and the impact directly benefits women from my native region.
In the summer of 2023, during a family gathering in Samarkand, many women shared their struggles with the discomfort and skin issues caused by disposable sanitary pads. This hit close to home, as I had faced similar health challenges myself.
Realizing that women in this part of the world do not have access to innovative, non-toxic, and reusable menstrual wear, I became determined to find a solution.
Upon returning to Paris, I collaborated with a local French textile specialist and designer, and after several months of research, I created Nella—a line of period panties that are comfortable, skin-friendly, and eco-friendly.
